New Home Construction on the Rise in Jacksonville FL
It’s the highest level we’ve seen for growth in U.S. single-family houses in over four years, and we’re thrilled to see it -- finally!. Activity began to fire up right at the start of 2013, and it looks like it’s only upward from here as we move through the second quarter. Here are some of the hard numbers: 613,000 single family homes were constructed in January. That’s an annual rate increase of about eight tenths of one percent, up from 608,000 in 2012. Not bad. Analysts are chiming in with a hopeful chord. Builders Lennar and Pulte, are both very active in the Jacksonville area, are taking pre-orders in just about every development they’re building. When housing starts and new construction goes up, general economic growth, and lower unemployment should not be far behind.

Lennar Homes Lexington Park Jacksonville FL - Kitchen
The North Jacksonville corridor of I-95 North and the I-295 Beltway with Blount Island to the east, and Orange Park to the west, is undergoing a construction boom. This could be attributed to the fact that it’s a short drive to Jacksonville International Airport (JIA), Orange Park, the Westside and Downtown, making it an easy commute. That’s surely a factor, but there’s more going on here than meets the eye. Families are looking into North Jacksonville by the droves for its reasonable prices, quiet, natural setting, and proximity to good schools like Oceanway Elementary. This area of the Northside has always been a family-friendly place to be, (with the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens right down the road), but there’s never been so many choices of new construction homes since the housing bubble in 2006-2007
